Serap Zuvin, the founding partner of Serap Zuvin Law Offices, graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1986. She started her legal career as an Assistant Professor of Commercial Law at Marmara University, Faculty of Law. Subsequently, she worked as an associate lawyer at Ahmet Tekeli Law Office and then as an International Legal Counsel for White & Case, LLP Turkey from 1993 until 2000. She established her own law firm and has been practicing law as the founding partner of Serap Zuvin Law Offices since 2000.
Ms. Zuvin is a prominent author and recognized authority on aviation law and aircraft financing. She has represented major airline companies and continues to represent some of the largest global players in the field.
Along with her aviation practice, Ms. Zuvin is a member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT), International Bar Association (IBA), Aviation Lawyers Group of the Turkish Civil Aviation Directorate, International Aviation Women’s Association (IAWA), European Aviation Lawyers Association (EALA), Women in Aviation International (WIA), Corporate Jet Investors (CJI), L2bAviation and the European Aviation Club (EAC). She also serves as an officer of the Aviation Committee of the IBA.
Ms. Zuvin is a member of the Legal Advisory Panel (LAP) of the Aviation Working Group (AWG). Representing Turkey, she also advises the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority on the Cape Town Convention and its implementation, as well as other aircraft financing matters. Ms. Zuvin attends various international seminars, conferences and panel discussions as a speaker in this unique legal field.
Since the beginning of her career, Serap Zuvin has represented international corporate clients and specialized in corporate finance, with an emphasis on equipment finance. She has further been extensively involved in numerous cross-border joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. She also has noted expertise in pharmaceutical law, corporate reorganizations, competition law and labor law.
Regarding her academic work; for the last two years, she has been lecturing at Bilgi University to the LLM and PhD Students on Aircraft Financing Law, which is the first course established in Turkey on Commercial Aviation and Aircraft Financing. She also lectures at Bogazici University of Istanbul from time to time as a guest lecturer on legal English. Ms. Zuvin also lectured at the Faculty of Law of Yeditepe University of Istanbul on mergers and acquisitions to the LLM and PhD students in the past years. Every year Ms. Zuvin participates as a judge in the International Air Law Moot Court competition organized by Leiden University and the Sarin Foundation.
Ms. Zuvin is a prolific writer on various topics, regularly contributing to a number of local and international publications including Juris, World Bank, Aspatore Books, IBA, Euromoney, CNBC Business Magazine, Mondaq, Primerus, and Hieros Gamos.
She has also given briefs both in Turkey and at the European Parliament in 2012 during an SME summit on the substantial changes in the Turkish Code of Obligations and the Turkish Commercial Code.
