Uruguay has issued rules for e‑commerce along with the criteria for application.  The authority’s focus is on ensuring honest browsing and that the website’s design does not force the buyer’s will. 

There are some key points to note: 

• Freedom of action: The customer must select what they want. Additional services cannot appear pre‑selected by default. 

• Stock transparency: It is mandatory that the availability shown is real. 

• Pressure‑free browsing: Urgency notices (timers or alerts such as “only two seats left”) must be avoided if they are not truthful, as they interfere with “thoughtful purchasing.” 

• Ease of contact: Access to customer service must be straightforward. 

One might find the following checklist useful in auditing websites for compliance.  This can help avoid legal issues and strengthens a brand’s reputation. 

Checklist 

• Are there any pre‑checked boxes? (All of them must be removed.) 

• Are the “xx seats left” messages real? (If they are automatic without real stock data, they must be disabled.) 

• Is the Help/Contact button visible at all times? (The user should not be forced to go around in circles to file a complaint.) 

• Are we asking for too much information? (Review forms to ensure they do not request unnecessary data for the purchase.)
