Hendra Ong is a Partner of Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP). He joined the firm in 2007 after taking his Law Master Degree (LL.M.) from Post Graduate Programme from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands, Master of International Commercial and Trade Law. Hendra obtained his first law degree (S.H.) from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia.
Hendra has extensive experience in the aviation industry covering almost every legal and commercial aspect. He has represented prominent airline companies, among others Indonesian national flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (including in the purchase of 50 (fifty) Boeing’s 737 MAX 8s Aircraft by , valued at US$4.9 billion at 2014 list prices), PT Sriwijaya Air, and PT Citilink Indonesia (member of Garuda Indonesia Group). He has also assisted lessor companies such as AerCap, Nordic Aviation Capital, Textron Financial Corporation, GE Capital Aviation Services, Avolon Aerospace Leasing Limited, BBAM Aircraft Leasing and Management, CIT Aerospace International, and KV Aviation Singapore Pte Ltd.. Hendra has also provided legal assistance for financial institutions, such as PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero), Tbk., Investec Bank Plc., and KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH in aviation-related commercial transactions.
His excellent work and career path have been recognized by Asian Legal Business (ALB) Thomson Reuter, which included him in the list of “40 under 40” in October 2017 edition and nominated him as a “Young Lawyer of the Year” in ALB South East Asia Law Awards 2017.
Being active in organizations, Hendra is currently a member of the Management Board (2014 – 2018) in the Research and Development Division of the Indonesian Air Law Society (MHU – Masyarakat Hukum Udara), a non political, independent, non-profit organization serving as the main communication forum for its members to exchange thoughts and ideas and to advance the air law sector as a partner of the government in the development of Indonesia’s air law sector.
Hendra has been invited to several discussion forums and training on various legal materials in relation to aviation and infrastructure.
Hendra is registered with PERADI (Indonesian Advocates Association) as an Advocate.
