Sergi Giménez and his team have wide experience in the field of international business law and mergers and acquisitions. Since 1998 he has been advising domestic and foreign companies and entrepreneurs within the aviation industry, advising both on transactions arising from their daily operations as well as on strategic matters: fleet changes, acquisition and disposal of aircraft, contracts relating to the use and operation of aircraft, securing of governmental permits, regulatory compliance, and financing transactions. Among the firm’s clients there are airlines, aircraft and engine owners and lessors and financial entities.

Since 1994 Sergi has been advising well-known players of the tourism industry, travel agencies, such as tour operators, hotel owners and operators, cruise companies and leisure centres in all kinds of contractual matters, acquisition and disposal of business units, international agency agreements and litigation.

His education and professional career have always been very much linked to international legal matters, as he regularly works with multinational companies with dealings in Spain and with Spanish companies in their dealings abroad. Sergi’s German origins and education allow him to work comfortably with clients form the Anglo-Saxon countries, and his Spanish half is certainly of help when dealing with Latin clients.

Sergi’s was educated at the Universitat de Barcelona (Law Graduate, 1989), Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (1984-1985) and Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Magister Legum LL.M. International Business Law 1990). He was admitted as a lawyer in 1989 in Barcelona, Spain.

Sergi is a member of the Barcelona Bar; International Bar Association (member of the Aviation Law Committee); Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

Sergi’s academic activities: currently Lecturer of Private International Law at the Faculty of Laws, Department of International Law and Economy of the Universitat de Barcelona; 2008-2011 Lecturer of International Business Law at the Faculty of Economy and Business, Department of International Law and Economy of the Universitat de Barcelona; 2001-2007 Lecturer of International Contracting and Liability at the Escola Superior de Comerç Internacional, of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra; 1998-2000 Lecturer of Private International Law at the Law Faculty of Universitat de les Illes Balears.

Sergi was named in the 2011 edition of the “Guide to the World’s Leading Aviation Lawyers” and in the 2007-2011 “Guide to Aviation Lawyers”; named as one of Spain’s leading aviation lawyers in the 2010 and 2011 editions of the “Airfinance Annual Yearbook”.

Sergi is the author of many publications on international business and aviation issues

Sergi has attended many conferences on aviation and international law, acting as speaker and moderator –among other- at the Barcelona Bar, European Young Bar Association, International Bar Association, Union Internationale des Avocats.

Sergi speaks Spanish, German, English, Catalan, French and Italian.
