Fornesa Abogados is pleased to announce that, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary from its foundation, it changes its name to “Augusta Abogados” and updates its corporate image as of 1 January 2018. After a detailed analysis, which has been supported by prestigious experts, the new name links with the foundational roots of the firm and at the same time it evokes the expansion and internationalisation opportunities that the Via Augusta -the ancient Roman road- offered to the territory of the Iberian Peninsula. With this guideline as a starting point, the renewed corporate image projects the intention to embrace the most modern tendencies in the legal advice of enterprises with an international focus, which is at the core of the firm’s legal activity.

Augusta Abogados begins this new stage with an ambitious expansion plan, both at its main seat in Barcelona as well as in Madrid. The firm has agreed to the joining of Mr. Juan José Terraza as partner in the Barcelona office to lead the Tax Department. After more than 35 years at Ernst & Young, Juanjo Terraza is one of the leading European experts in the complex area of transfer pricing, along with his extensive knowledge of European tax laws. The firm anticipates that his joining will have an immediate impact in the quality and depth of the tax advice which it has been rendering due to the synergies with almost all the areas of law and industries in which Augusta Abogados participates. Similarly, starting in January the firm will be joined by Mrs. Alba Rodenas Borràs, a lawyer who specialises in real estate, personal estate and private international law for more than 20 years. Mrs. Rodenas, a lecturer of Private International Law at the Barcelona University, is well known for her advice to enterprises and individuals of the German-speaking countries and will be an important asset to the German Desk which Augusta Abogados has been operating for the last three years. Finally the Labour Law Department continues its expansion with Mr. Pere Vidal, a senior lawyer who joins the firm after a long experience with PWC. In addition to his activity as a lawyer, Pere lectures on labour law at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the Universidad EIS (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos).

As regards its presence in Madrid, the firm has an office since October in the Spanish capital city. Augusta Abogados is confident that this initial presence will be strengthened shortly through a formal collaboration agreement with a prestigious Madrid firm which offers important synergies with the present activities of our firm.
