Leader of Santamarina + Steta’s transactional and financial practice area, Juan Carlos has 30 years of professional experience advising on general corporate and financial matters, with an emphasis on aviation and airport matters.
His experience in the aviation field goes back to the longstanding representation in Mexico of the Irish firm GPA, the leading lessor and financier of the commercial fleet of Aeroméxico, and the formers Méxicana de Aviación, TAESA, Líneas Aéreas Latur, and AeroCalifornia. He has also represented the interests of Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance Limited in engine financing transactions in Mexico, as well as other financiers of the corporate aviation market in the country.
Likewise, Juan Carlos has advised important companies in the industry, such as EADS, Eurocopter, and ATR, on transactions regarding tendering equipment and services to both federal and local governments.
In the airport business, he has broad experience representing players involved in public tender and related processes and acted as legal counsel for the Federal Government regarding the financing of Mexico City International Airport Terminal 2 and the New Mexico City International Airport project.
