João Marques de Almeida is a Professional Partner and has been with Abreu Advogados since 2024. He co-heads the Aviation, Maritime & Transportation practice area.

With more than 20 years’ experience, he frequently represents airlines, aircraft and engine manufacturers, maintenance organisations (MROs Part-145), training organisations (ATOs), airport operators, air traffic service providers, ground handling, and other aviation service providers. He is responsible for advising on a significant number of high-profile cross-border disputes (including in Portuguese-speaking African countries).

João is currently a member of the Portuguese Arbitration Association and EALA (European Air Law Association). He is the author of several articles and publications, including a contribution to the Elgar Encyclopedia of Aviation Law (2024), and coordinates the Portuguese chapter of the IATA’s annual Liability Reporter.
